The Vietnam Education Publishing House has just announced a hike in textbook price in the academic year 2019-2020 which was approved by the Ministry of Finance.

Prices of textbooks from first to twelfth grade will surge by VND1,000 – VND1,800 a textbook averagely.

The price adjustment of textbook will increase Consumer Price Index 2019 by 0.07 percent. Price index of textbooks will  be publicized at the publishing house’s book stores, the Book – School Device stores countrywide and in the publishing house’s website www.nxbgd.vn

Publishing houses said textbooks for the new school year will be issued from April, 2019. It promised to have enough textbooks for all students this year across the country.

What is more, the house also set up a hot line to receive and answer students’ and parents’ questions on textbooks.

Moreover, the publishing house plans to gift 25,000 textbooks to children of martyrs, wounded soldiers and social welfare beneficiaries in addition to giving free textbooks to children in remote and disadvantaged districts nationwide.

Additionally, it organize a campaign to collect used textbooks to children of low-income families, libraries and bookshelves.

The publishing house said that it keep textbooks in stock to support natural disaster-hit localities.

To encourage students to use textbooks carefully to pass to younger children, the publishing house has printed a sentence “To keep your textbook for younger students” in the first page.
