VietNamNet Bridge – Hanoi-based Thai Ha Book Company has launched the Vietnamese versions of two coloring-in books for adults by Scottish author Johanna Basford.

More than one million copies of Secret Garden (called Khu vuon bi mat in Vietnamese) and Enchanted Forest (Khu rung bi phu phep) books have been sold by in the UK, the U.S., France, China, South Korea, Japan, Thailand and Taiwan.

Secret Garden, a 96-page collection of elaborate black-and-white ink drawings of flowers, leaves, trees and birds, has become a global best-seller.

According to The New York Times, since its release in 2013, more than 1.4 million copies of the book in 22 languages have found buyers. It shot to the top of Amazon’s best-seller list for several months, overtaking books by authors like Harper Lee, Anthony Doerr and Paula Hawkins.

“Enchanted Forest” is a follow-up which came out in February with 60 illustrations.

“People are really excited to do something analog and creative, at a time when we’re all so overwhelmed by screens and the Internet,” Basford told The New York Times in an interview in March.
