According to the Education for Nature - Vietnam (ENV), the family of Nguyen Khac Thuong had decided to hand over the animals to local authorities following advice from the Thai Nguyen Provincial Department of Forest Protection, the Hanoi Wild Animal Rescue Centre, and concerned agencies.
Thuong said that he has raised the animals for nearly 20 years now and he loves them a lot.
"Due to my current health and economic problems, I decided to transfer them to local authorities so that they can still receive good care," Thuong said.
Director of the Hanoi Wild Animal Rescue Centre, Luong Xuan Hong, said that four of the six tigers have been safely transported from Thai Nguyen to Hanoi while the remaining two will be taken to their new house on June 8.
"With these six new members, we'll have a total of 41 tigers in our centre," Hong said.
