Thai Nguyen province has 550 intangible cultural heritages, including: Languages and scripts of ethnic groups, folk literature, folk performing arts, social practices, traditional festivals, traditional crafts and folk knowledge.
Particularly, folk performing arts include music, dance, singing, and other forms of folk performance with historical, cultural and artistic value, contributing to enriching spiritual life and Thai Nguyen cultural identity in particular and Vietnamese culture in general.
Implementing the project to support management and investment activities to preserve, restore and promote cultural heritage values in Thai Nguyen province in the period of 2021 - 2025, all districts in Thai Nguyen have collected and restored many intangible cultural heritages associated with preserving traditional cultural identities and developing community tourism.
Phu Luong district is a typical example in preserving and promoting cultural heritage values. The district has coordinated with the Thai Nguyen Center for Culture and Arts to organize 6 models of villages and cultural villages in the communes of Yen Ninh, Yen Do, Dong Dat, Phu Ly, Co Lung, and Tuc Tranh.
Phu Luong district also sets up the model of preserving the traditional culture of ethnic minorities under Project 06 on "Preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development" with a total disbursed capital of 279 million VND in 2023.
After being established and trained, the 6 clubs and models have become the core forces in preserving cultural heritage, contributing to the development of community tourism in Phu Luong district.
Vo Nhai and Dai Tu districts have also collected and made records of the harvest festival of the Dao Lo Gang ethnic group to submit to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for adding to the List of national intangible cultural heritages.
Besides, the two heritages of Literature Mountain - Martial Mountain Festival in Van Yen commune (Dai Tu district) and knowledge of growing and processing Tan Cuong tea in the communes of Tan Cuong, Phuc Triu, Phuc Xuan (Thai Nguyen City) has been added to the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List 2023 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The implementation of activities to protect, restore and promote the value of intangible cultural heritage in Thai Nguyen Province has been linked to the National Target Program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the period of 2021 – 2030 and the program on building new rural areas, protecting the ecological environment, natural landscapes and heritage practices.
