VietNamNet Bridge – Thai Son Nam have beaten Sanest Tourist Khanh Hoa 7-2 in the last round of the National Futsal Championship to officially lift the title.

Displaying better skills, Thai Son Nam easily crushed their rival Sanest Tourist Khanh Hoa on Saturday.

The goals for Thai Son Nam were scored by Ngoc Son in the eighth and 39th minute, Dac Huy in the 12th and 33rd minute, Xuan Du in the 17th minute, Trong Luan in the 20th minute and Van Vu in the 35th minute.

Hai Dang and Hong Quy scored the two goals for Sanest Tourist Khanh Hoa.

After 18 games, Thai Son Nam had 45 points to take the lead and walked away with the VND200 million prize (US$8,700).

Sanatech Khanh Hoa were the runners-up after beating Sai Gon 6-2. The third place went to Hai Phuong Nam Phu Nhuan who defeated Hoang Thu Da Nang 4-2.

Thai Son Nam have triumphed at the annual event for the seventh time.

Thai Son Nam will next represent Viet Nam in the AFC Futsal Club Championship 2018, while the runners-up Sanatech Khanh Hoa will compete in the AFF Futsal Club Championship 2018.

The teams ranked from first to sixth place in this year’s event will automatically enter the second leg of the National Futsal Championship next year. Other teams will have to compete in the qualifying round.

On Saturday, the Viet Nam Football Federation (VFF) officially named Miguel Rodrigo of Spain as the head coach of the national futsal team.

Rodrigo will lead the team from 2017 to 2020.

Speaking at the event, new national coach Rodrigo said that leading the Viet Nam was a huge challenge for him, and his goals were to guide Viet Nam into the top 4 in Asia and to the final round of the 2020 Futsal World Cup.

According to Le Hoai Anh, VFF Secretary-General, Rodrigo would start coaching the Vietnam team on June 25 when the team would start preparing for the 2017 Southeast Asian Games.

The VFF believes that Rodrigo, together with the national players, can achieve success in the upcoming SEA Games, 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, as well as the 2020 Futsal World Cup, Anh said.

Rodrigo is a world renowned futsal coach. Born in 1970 in Valencia, he played futsal for five years before beginning his career as a coach at the age of 21.

He used to coach futsal clubs in Russia, Italy and Spain, and led Japan’s national team from 2009 to 2015. His deep tactics and formations guided Japan to victory in the AFC Futsal Championship in 2012 and 2014.

Rodrigo also guided Thailand to the round of eight at the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Colombia.
