During a recent motorbike trip through Vietnam, Thai YouTuber Sittidet Srito was mesmerized by the white-covered landscapes of Da Trang Pass (Thung Khe Pass) in Hoa Binh Province, describing it as reminiscent of snow-covered European vistas.
Discovering Vietnam’s stunning landscapes
Sittidet Srito, a prominent Thai YouTuber with nearly 370,000 subscribers, frequently shares videos of his travel experiences. Earlier in December 2024, he and his wife embarked on a motorbike journey from Hanoi, traversing provinces such as Hoa Binh, Son La, Lai Chau, and Ha Giang.
Sittidet praised Vietnam’s breathtaking natural scenery, noting that traveling by motorbike allowed him to fully immerse himself in the country’s diverse landscapes.
On their route to Mai Chau in Hoa Binh, the couple was particularly captivated by Da Trang Pass, a location they found strikingly unique.
The snow-like beauty of Da Trang Pass
Da Trang Pass, located over 1,000 meters above sea level, is part of National Highway 6, connecting Tan Lac and Mai Chau districts in Hoa Binh Province. Approximately 120 kilometers northwest of Hanoi, the pass is often referred to as the "Nordic hill" due to its majestic, snow-like appearance.
The area's signature white landscape is a result of limestone debris from road construction, which blankets the surroundings in a chalky hue.
At a rest stop along the pass, Sittidet marveled at the unusual scenery, likening it to snow-covered settings in European films.
“There is a large rock formation where visitors can climb to enjoy panoramic views. The area is strange yet beautiful, as white as snow,” he remarked.
A blend of scenery and local delicacies
The couple also enjoyed traditional Vietnamese snacks at the foot of the pass, including grilled corn, sticky rice cooked in bamboo (cơm lam), and grilled pork.
Sittidet was impressed by the affordability and taste of the food, noting, “The grilled corn was so fragrant and only 10,000 VND (approximately 15 Thai baht).”
He also praised the grilled pork, describing its flavorful seasoning as perfect for the chilly weather.
Sharing his experience, Sittidet recalled visiting Da Trang Pass on December 7, 2024, around 4 PM when the weather was crisp and cool.
“The view at Da Trang Pass left me truly impressed. It looked like snow falling in Europe,” he said.
A love for Vietnam
Sittidet revealed that his first trip to Vietnam was two years ago, and since then, he has returned multiple times, enchanted by the country’s scenery, culture, and cuisine.
He has visited numerous provinces, including Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Thuan, Lam Dong, Hanoi, Ha Giang, Son La, and Lao Cai.
“I love Vietnam and have been learning Vietnamese for two years. I’ll continue to learn more to better understand this beautiful country and its people,” he shared enthusiastically.
