VietNamNet Bridge - With the new regulations on visas for foreign tourists, about 50,000 Vietnamese citizens who are using tourist visas to work in Thailand may be forced to return home.

As of November 13, Thailand will grant the new tourist visas with duration up to six months for foreign visitors.

Under the new regulations, foreign visitors will be allowed to enter and exist Thailand several times during a period of six months. With each entry, visitors are only allowed to stay for 60 days.

The current tourist visa of Thailand allows users to enter and exit one to three times during the period of validity.

At present, Vietnamese tourists to Thailand are exempted from visa, but they are allowed to stay for a month for each entry. 

If they want to stay longer, they have to apply for an extension at the Immigration Administration but not more than three times, If so, they are then forced to exit.

Thus, from now to November 13, approximately 50,000 Vietnamese citizens who are using tourist visas to work in Thailand may be forced to return home.
