In the 47th minute, HAGL's Anzite Franklin made an error in the penalty area, giving the visitors a penalty. At the penalty spot, striker Anthony Stevens easily defeated Minh Nhut goalie with a low shot, levelling the score at 1-1 for Hai Phong.

HAGL had two more chances to score goals but they didn't break Hai Phong's defence line-up.

Elsewhere, Dong Thap beat dark horse Quang Ninh Coal 2-1. Sanna Khanh Hoa lost to Thanh Hoa 2-3, and Ha Noi T&T beat SHB Da Nang 2-0.
