VietNamNet Bridge – Four days after the Cau Chay river dike was broken, thousands of people in Tho Xuan district of the central province of Thanh Hoa are still isolated by flood.

| The dike was broken in the early morning of September 7. Within several
hours, more than 1,500 houses, hundreds of hectares of paddy, sugarcane,
cassava and vegetables were submerged by flood. |

| By October 10,
11 out of 17 villages of Quang Phu commune, Tho Xuan district were still
flooded. This is the largest flood in several decades in Tho Xuan. |

At present, around 1,500 families, tototaling over 6,000 people are isolated by flood.

| According to Thanh Hoa authorities, at least eight people were reported dead, 100 houses were swept away, 2,387 houses were damaged, nearly 20,000 hectares of crops and 900 hectares of fish ponds are flooded. |
