VietNamNet Bridge - After a badminton competition in the morning, officials of Ham Rong Ward, Thanh Hoa city, went to a dog meat restaurant to drink. Taking advantage of the lunch break, they played cards at the office, then having friction - they scuffled with each other.



Mr. Thanh is still at hospital.


Mr. Le Van Thanh, 48, deputy military commander of Ham Rong Ward said that at 12.40am of October 4, after a badminton competition in the morning, officials of Ham Rong Ward went to a dog meat shop to drink.

After that, Thanh and some officials played cards in a workroom on the third floor of the Ham Rong Ward People’s Committee headquarters.

The participants included Mr. Duong Tat Thanh, Party Secretary; Mr. Luong Tri Thanh, Vice Party Secretary; Mr. Trinh Xuan Tinh, Vice President of the People’s Council; Mr. Le Van Quyet, chief military officer; Mr. Duong Dinh Long, Vice Chair of the Farmers' Association and Mr. Le Duy Dao, Youth Branch Secretary.

According to Thanh, while playing cards, doubting that Thanh did not pay enough money, Le Van Quyet cursed and beat him.

"I thought others would dissuade the situation, but surprisingly they joined Quyet to beat me. I could not resist," Thanh said.

Thanh was hospitalized with multiple injuries. Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Ha, Thanh’s wife filed a denunciation against involved individuals.

Mr. Duong Dinh Hue, Chairman of Ham Rong Ward said it is true that Thanh was beaten at the Ham Rong Ward People’s Committee headquarters. The ward sent a report on the case to the Thanh Hoa City People's Committee. The police are investigating the case.

"I have instructed the ward police bureau to investigate this case. If officials played cards at the office, it is really bad. They must be severely punished," Mr Hue said.

Meanwhile, Duong Tat Thanh, Party Secretary, said he was slandered by his subordinates. "I did not gamble and did not beat Thanh. It is true that Thanh was assaulted by Mr. Quyet. I confirm that I did not beat him."

On October 10, Mr Dao Trong Quy, Chairman of Thanh Hoa City said he had received the complaint of Le Van Thanh's family.

"I’ve assigned the Vice Chair and relevant agencies to urgently investigate the incident. The city’s viewpoint is to quickly clarify the case to strictly handle violators, whoever they are," said Quy. Compiled by Thu Ha
