Following the conclusion of the 2025 FIVB World Championship, outside hitter Thanh Thuy traveled to Japan to begin her new chapter with Gunma Green Wings. She received a warm welcome from teammates and will wear jersey number 16 at the club.

Joining her in Japan is Polish import Olivia Rozanski. Both are highly anticipated additions to the squad, expected to help Gunma Green Wings achieve a much stronger performance this season.

Thanh Thuy will have over a month to prepare for the new season, with Gunma Green Wings set to kick off their campaign on October 10.

Tran Thi Thanh Thuy is warmly welcomed by her new club in Japan.
Gunma Green Wings was promoted to the top league just last year but finished at the bottom of the table due to a lack of quality personnel. The club has made significant reinforcements this year, including the acquisition of Thanh Thuy. As a result of her move, VTV Binh Dien Long An will be without the 1997-born hitter for the second phase of Vietnam's 2025 National Volleyball Championship.
This isn't Thanh Thuy’s first overseas stint. In the Japanese league, she previously played for PFU Blue Cats during the 2023-2024 season. She has also competed professionally in Turkey and Indonesia. This marks the seventh time she has played abroad in her career.
Fans are concerned, however, that Thanh Thuy might not return to play for the Vietnamese national team at the 33rd SEA Games in December. The SEA Games are not part of the official FIVB competition system, so clubs are not obligated to release players for the event.
The Vietnam Volleyball Federation is reportedly in negotiations with Gunma Green Wings to secure Thanh Thuy's participation in the SEA Games.
