Hoang Nguyen Thanh successfully defended his title at the national mountain-climbing tournament, entitled "Conquering Ba Ra Mountain 2015", in Phuoc Long Town in Binh Phuoc Province yesterday.

Representing the host province of Binh Phuoc, Thanh won the men's 7.7km professional event with a time of 34:07.44. He was followed by Do Van Luat of the Military team and Thanh's teammate Tran Van Loi.

Hoang Thi Thanh of the Military team took the lead in the women's 5.4km professional event with a time of 33 minutes and 33 seconds. The host team's Dang Cam Tu and Khanh Hoa's Nguyen Thi Y Tien came in second and third place, respectively.

Binh Phuoc's Chau Ngoc Gian and Nguyen Thi Quynh Tram dominated the men's and women's amateur events, helping the host team claim the overall championship title with a total of three gold, one silver and one bronze medal.

Nearly 1,000 sportspersons from 20 teams nationwide participated in the day-long event, competing for eight sets of medals. 

Hai Phong agree sponsorship deal with LG Electronics

The LG Electronics Viet Nam Company signed a sponsorship contract with V-League side Hai Phong on Tuesday, following which the team will be renamed LG Hai Phong.

The contract's value and duration have not been revealed yet, but the company pledged to create the most favourable conditions to develop the economy as well as sport of the northern port city.

Hai Phong beat Song Lam Nghe An 3-0 in the V-League's first round.
