In the 81km stage from the southern province of Binh Phuoc's Dong Xoai Town to Thu Dau Mot Town in Binh Duong Province, That clocked a top speed of 36.721kmph to complete the stage in two hours 12 minutes and 21 seconds.

Nguyen Thuy Dung, from Binh Duong Water Supply-Drainage and Environment, finished second and South Korea's You Jina came third.

The win means That retains the yellow jersey for the best overall time of 2:57.01. Jina is second overall and Phan Thi Thuy Trang, of An Giang Plant Protection, third.

Jina retains the green jersey for the best sprint time.

After two stages, the South Koreans lead the team race with a combined time of 8:57.45, followed by An Giang Plant Protection and Binh Duong.

The third 100km stage from Binh Duong to Ben Tre city begins today.

Sixty-five cyclists representing 13 teams – one from South Korea and another from Malaysia – are taking part in the 600km tour.

The seven-stage race, which passes through 12 provinces and cities, ends on Saturday in An Giang Province.

The tour carries prize money of VND150 million (US$7,140).
