Thuyen Village was once called the village of scrap-iron collectors. The village was associated with the image of collectors who traveled around the city and other neighboring provinces to purchase scrap iron or exchange barley-sugar for scrap iron. But now many scrap-iron dealers in the village have become VND billionaires.

The villagers stopped riding bicycles to purchase scrap-iron in 2000. They have established household companies to trade scrap-iron, and many of them have signed contracts worth hundreds of thousands of USD. Over half of the households in the village have built mansions and own luxury cars.

On the road to the village is a cemetery of countless number of old vehicles such as cars, excavators, bulldozers and all kinds of spare parts such as shafts, sprockets, tires ... from all kinds of vehicles.

Hundreds of used cars, of brands Camry, Hyundai, Mercedes, Toyota, Honda, Mazda, and many kinds of boats can be seen at the mansions. Each vehicle is priced from several hundred to several thousand USD.

All scrap-iron collectors in the village have become scrap-iron dealers. 

Their partners are not individuals, but companies, even state-owned firms. 

After purchasing old vehicles, they bring them to the village to dismantle. The usable spare parts are sold to garages and the remaining to recycling enterprises.

The village has scrap-iron warehouses and thousands of square meters of grounds.

Auto component traders and garages from all over the country flock to the village to purchase spare parts. 

The outdoor warehouse of Nguyen Van Phong, which is worth up to millions of USD.

There are more than 300 households in the village, of which almost 100 households trade auto spare parts and scrap iron. There are 15 private companies specializing in this job, with over 400 workers.

This job has changed the life of many households. According to local authorities, the village has dozens of workshops with annual income of more than VND1 billion ($50,000).
