Thuyen Village was once called the village of scrap-iron collectors. The village was associated with the image of collectors who traveled around the city and other neighboring provinces to purchase scrap iron or exchange barley-sugar for scrap iron. But now many scrap-iron dealers in the village have become VND billionaires.

The villagers stopped riding bicycles to purchase scrap-iron in 2000. They have established household companies to trade scrap-iron, and many of them have signed contracts worth hundreds of thousands of USD. Over half of the households in the village have built mansions and own luxury cars.

On the road to the village is a cemetery of countless number of old vehicles such as cars, excavators, bulldozers and all kinds of spare parts such as shafts, sprockets, tires ... from all kinds of vehicles.

All scrap-iron collectors in the village have become scrap-iron dealers. Their partners are not individuals, but companies, even state-owned firms.

After purchasing old vehicles, they bring them to the village to dismantle. The usable spare parts are sold to garages and the remaining to recycling enterprises.
