1. Nguyen Thi Mai Thanh, 1952, President and CEO of REE

Thanh is the only woman in the board of management, where 16 out of the 17 members are men.
She began working for REE in 1982, which until 1986, remained a state owned company. It was Thanh who paid a big contribution to the equitization of the company and to the listing of the company’s shares on the Vietnamese bourse.
By January 9, 2012, Thanh had held 7.7 million REE’s shares, or 3.23 percent of the chartered capital, worth 94.5 billion dong. The businesswoman has registered to purchase 2.2 million REE’s shares more to raise the total number of shares she holds to 9.9 million.
Thanh once was the member of the board of directors of Sacombank before the position was transferred to her son – Nguyen Ngoc Thai Binh, who is now working as the Chief Finance Officer at REE.
2. Ha Dung, 1952, – musician, the owner of Indochina Airlines
Back home after graduating from the University in the former Soviet Union in 1979, he obtained high and rapid promotions in his job. He became to the deputy director of a state agency, becoming the youngest department deputy director in Vietnam.
In mid April 1982, he became the assistant to the late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet, who was then deputy chair of the board of ministers. In mid-1988, he quit the job and decided to become a businessman.
He has been well-known as the founding shareholder of Indochina Airlines, the second private airline and the fifth airline in Vietnam. However, just after one year of operation, Indochina Airlines has stopped operation due to financial problems.
Dung has also been known as a well-known musician who backed a lot of famous pop singers in Vietnam.
3. Do Minh Phu, 1952, General Director of gold, silver and gemstone DOJI group
The businessman has been added into the list of top 24 excellent businessmen of the Ernst & Young prize, who is believed not to taste failure in doing business.
In 2007, Phu set up the first shopping mall in Vietnam which specializes in gold, silver and gemstone products, called DOJI Plaza, located on Le Ngoc Han Street in Hanoi.
In 2006, the group gained the turnover of 60 billion dong, while the figure jumped to 15 trillion dong in 2010. Phu has also been doing business in many other fields such as taxi and restaurant.
4. Nguyen Duc Kien, 1964, member of the founding shareholders of ACB
In 1994, Nguyen Duc Kien, together with Tran Mong Hung, Pham Trung Cang and Trinh Kim Quang built up the Asia Commercial Bank, which has become one of the biggest commercial banks in Vietnam.
Kien is also holding stakes in some other big banks such as Eximbank, Kien Long, Vietbank, Dai A and Techcombank.
He is also the President of Thien Nam Company, Deputy President of Cho lon Tourism Company.
He was also the President of Caltex and Deputy Chair of KFC Vietnam joint venture.
5. Dang Thanh Tam, 1964
He was once a National Assembly’s Deputy, now Chair and CEO of the Kinh Bac Urban Development Corporation KBC, the Saigon Telecom, member of Nam Viet Bank.
Tam has also appeared in the list of the VnExpress’ top 10 stock millionaires in Vietnam. Tam has the total stock assets of 1399 billion dong, ranking the 8th.
