What causes Hanoi’s sinkhole is still in controversy

Prof. Dr. Pham Khang, from the University of Transport, told VietNamNet on September 11 that the reasons that caused the death hole on Hanoi’s road have not been defined yet.
The problem, according to this expect, is that, before the incident occurred, there were three concrete blocks located near the death hole, each concrete block being 30 cm thick and over ten meters long.
Therefore, it is necessary to determine who placed these concrete blocks there, the road investor (Song Da Group) or the nearby building project developer (Nam Cuong Group).
Meanwhile, asked about the cause of the "pit of death," which was caused by the nearby building project or the low quality of the road, representative of the traffic project management 2, said that the independent assessment unit is still completing the record and it would probably get more opinions from other experts before making a final conclusion.
However, Khang said that the official assessment results will be released this week.
PMU2 said that workers have started to fix the subsided site. The fix will last for 30 days. The Bac Ha Dong backbone is expected to be open to traffic in early October.
The cost for the road repair will be paid by the Song Da Thang Long group. Earlier, the Nam Cuong Group had paid for the building of a temporary bypass for vehicles through the subsided section of road.
