Nguyen Xuan Anh, Da Nang’s Party Secretary

Last Friday, the 16th of October, the Party Executive Committee of Da Nang City elected Nguyen Xuan Anh, Deputy Secretary, an alternate member of the Central Party Committee, as the city’s Party Secretary.

Born in 1976, Xuan Anh, a native of Hoa Tien commune, Hoa Vang district, Da Nang city, is considered one of the youngest municipal Party Secretaries in Vietnam. 

Holding a doctoral degree in business administration, Xuan Anh assumed many important positions of Da Nang as Deputy Secretary at the age of 38 and the city’s Deputy Chair at the age of 35.

Previously, he served as Deputy Chair of Lien Chieu District, Deputy Party Secretary of Lien Chieu District, and Deputy Director of the Centre for Investment Promotion of Da Nang.

Xuan Anh was the eldest son of former Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee Nguyen Van Chi.

Nguyen Thanh Nghi, Party Secretary of Kien Giang Province

Deputy Secretary of the southern province of Kien Giang, Nguyen Thanh Nghi has been elected the Party Secretary in the 2015-2020 tenure. He is the youngest provincial Party Secretary in Vietnam.

Previously, in March 2014 Nghi was appointed the Deputy Secretary and Vice Chairman of Kien Giang.

Born in 1976, Nghi holds a doctoral degree of construction engineering at George Washington University, USA. He was former deputy director of the HCM City Architecture University.

He took office as the Deputy Minister of Construction from 2011, at the age of 35 and he was the youngest deputy minister in Vietnam.

He was elected an alternative member of the Party Central Committee at the 11th Party Congress in 2011. He is the eldest son of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

Two Deputy Secretaries of HCM City

On Saturday morning, October 17, the HCM City Party Congress announced the results of the election of the Party Executive Committee of the 2015-2020 tenure. Of the four Deputy Party Secretaries, there are two young faces: Mr. Vo Van Thuong, born 1970, a member of the Party Central Committee, former Deputy Party Secretary of HCM City and Mr. Tat Thanh Cang, born in 1971, an alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of HCM City.

Both Thuong and Cang are former Secretary of the HCM City Youth Union. Thuong holds a master of philosophy and previously served as Party Secretary of District 12. At the 10th National Party Congress, he was elected an alternate member of the Party Central Committee. In January 2011, he was elected a member of the Party Central Committee at the 11th Party Congress. In August 2011, he was assigned by the Politburo as Party Secretary of Quang Ngai Province. In April 2014 he was appointed Vice Party Secretary of HCM City.

Cang holds a master of law and previously assumed the post of Party Secretary cum Chairman of District 2. At the 11th National Party Congress in 2011, he was elected as an alternate member of the Party Central Committee. From October 2012 to June 2014, he served as Director of the HCM City Department of Transport, and from June 2014 he has been Vice Chairman of HCM City.

Compared with their predecessors, Thuong and Cang are younger, as both of them are under 50.

27-year-old member of Binh Dinh Party Executive Committee

On October 16th, the Party Congress of the central province of Binh Dinh province announced a list of 55 members elected to the provincial Party Executive Committee of the 2015-2020 tenure. The Secretary of Binh Dinh Provincial Youth Union Nguyen Minh Triet is the youngest member.

Born in 1988, Triet took a master’s degree in the UK. In June 2014, when he was Deputy Head of the Youth Union of the School of Central Youth Committee, Director of the Centre for Student Development Support of Vietnam, he was appointed by the Central Youth Committee as Vice Secretary of the Youth Union of Binh Dinh in the 2013-2017 tenure. Later that year he was assigned to participate the Party Executive Committee of Binh Dinh Province for the 2010-2015 term.

Triet is the youngest son of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

30-year-old Director of Planning and Investment Department

The central province of Quang Nam on September 23 appointed Mr. Le Phuoc Hoai Bao as Director of the Planning and Investment Department. Bao, 30, is the youngest department director in Vietnam.

Bao studied at the Da Nang Economics University, majoring in finance and credit. He then received a master’s degree in financial management and strategy at Claremont University (US).

Bao previously served as Head of the Investment Promotion Division of the Management Board of Chu Lai Open Economic Zone in 2012-2014. He was appointed Vice Chair of Thang Binh district (2011-2016) and Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment.

Bao is the son of the former Party Secretary of Quang Nam, Mr. Le Phuoc Thanh.
