On September 9, as part of the official visit of Mozambique's President and First Lady to Vietnam, an exchange of cultural appreciation took place at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum. After an official welcome ceremony, Vietnamese First Lady Ngo Phuong Ly and Mozambique's First Lady Isaura Ferrao Nyusi toured the museum, exploring its extensive collection of artworks.

The Vietnam Fine Arts Museum houses a significant collection of art, including sculptures, paintings, and graphics from ancient to modern times.

During their visit to the lacquer painting exhibition, Nguyen Anh Minh, Director of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, introduced the two First Ladies to three lacquer paintings recognized as national treasures of Vietnam. These included "Young Girl in the Garden" and "Landscape" by Nguyen Gia Tri, "Uncle Ho in the Viet Bac War Zone" by Duong Bich Lien, and "Joining the Party at Dien Bien Phu" by Nguyen Sang.

These artworks are culturally and historically significant and are protected and preserved by the Vietnamese government.

First Lady Ngo Phuong Ly, along with the Museum Director, personally introduced the "Young Girl in the Garden" folding screen to the guests.

At the display of "Young Girl in the Garden," First Lady Ngo Phuong Ly showcased the traditional Vietnamese Ao Dai. This painting features charming girls playing in a warm setting with branches and flowers, symbolizing the beauty of women's lives. The lacquer’s gold and red background enhances the painting’s mystical and vivid beauty. While discussing Vietnamese women, First Lady Ngo Phuong Ly also presented the Ao Dai to First Lady Isaura Ferrao Nyusi.

Additionally, the two First Ladies learned about the lacquer painting creation process and other artistic works.

Lacquer art has a long history in Vietnam. Over the centuries, Vietnamese artists and craftsmen have mastered lacquer techniques for decoration and preservation. What began as a traditional Vietnamese craft has evolved into a unique painting medium, distinct from silk, oil, or watercolor paintings.

The use of ancient materials combined with modern artistic techniques has enriched lacquer paintings, drawing increasing international interest and inspiring many foreign artists.

After viewing several artworks, the First Ladies engaged in a hands-on experience, applying silver leaf to a lacquer painting.

First Lady Ngo Phuong Ly presented her completed lacquer painting to First Lady Isaura Ferrao Nyusi, expressing hope that the paintings will one day be displayed in Mozambique.

First Lady Isaura Ferrao Nyusi expressed gratitude and moved by the gesture and gift from First Lady Ngo Phuong Ly. She mentioned that the paintings would be displayed together and expressed a desire to host First Lady Ngo Phuong Ly in Mozambique in the near future.
