VietNamNet Bridge – On March 4, the first day of receiving applications from self-nominated candidates to the next National Assembly (NA) election (March 4), application forms were granted to eight people in HCM City and four in Hanoi.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoe, 71, from HCM City

Nguyen Van Mui, 65, a retired worker in Phuong Lien ward, Dong Da district, Hanoi was the first who came to the Hanoi Department of Home Affairs to get an application form.

Mui, a retired mechanic, acknowledged himself to be qualified enough to run for the National Assembly to devote his strength and brain to the nation and the people, for the only one goal: building a strong, equal, humane, democratic and civilized society.

Mui said he had always followed information on the Internet and NA meetings which were aired live on television. He said recent NA meetings were very opened and ebullient. He was impressed the most by deputy Duong Trung Quoc. He wished to have opportunity to voice and discuss people’s concerns on the NA forum.

Mui, who is not a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam, managed to run for the NA in 2007 but he submitted the application late. This time he wished to receive the support from local people, who he often talked with and discussed social issues.

Tran Quoc Binh, 55, the director of a private construction material company in Me Linh district, Hanoi said he is running for the NA to contribute his experience and to become a representative of businessmen at the NA.

Binh was impressed by deputy Nguyen Minh Thuyet and he said he had not seen any outstanding NA deputy who is businessman.

Binh, who was a member of Me Linh District People’s Council from 1995 to 1999, Binh said he is confident running for the NA. He said he is willing to assume the heavy responsibility of a deputy.

Nguyen Van Hoe, 71, from Ben Thanh ward, District, a lecturer of the Hung Vuong University, was the first to get an application form from the HCM City Department of Home Affairs.

“I would like to join the Party and the State to make decisions that deal with school violence, to reduce unemployment and social evils, to seek strong renovation policies to bring Vietnam’s education to the same level with countries in Southeast Asia,” the teacher said.

By the end of March 4, the first day delivering application forms to self-nominated candidates to the NA and the People’s Council, HCM City Department of Home Affairs delivered 8 application forms to the NA election and 9 to the People’s Council election. Five people got both application forms.
