VietNamNet Bridge - Not long after returning home from the 27th SEA Games, many sports stars have received huge bonuses for their success in Myanmar.
Five outstanding athletes of Vietnam at 27th SEA Games

The rewards for the SEA Games medalists are set as follows: VND45 million ($2,200) for each gold medal, VND25 million ($1,200) for a silver medal and VND20 million ($1,000) for each bronze medal. The bonus for the achievement that breaks the SEA Games is VND15 million ($1,200).
In the 27th SEA Games, swimmer Anh Vien won three gold, two silvers and one bronze medal, so she received VND205 million ($10,000), plus VND30 million ($1,500) for breaking two records.
Previously, she was immediately rewarded with VND28 million ($1,400) in Myanmar after winning medals. Thus, Anh Vien received a total of VND263 million ($13,000) from the sports sector and rewards from many organizations and businesses.
Similarly, chessman Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son and the "speed queen" Vu Thi Huong received a lot of bonus money.
Son won two gold and one bronze medal in the SEA Games, so the bonuses for Son will be VND124 million ($6,200).
With two gold medals and one silver medal, Vu Thi Huong also received over VND100 million ($5,000).
Other athletes like shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh (three gold medals), runner Nguyen Van Lai (two gold medals), runner Do Thi Thao (two gold medals) will receive big bonuses of tens to hundreds of millions dong.
Several athletes won only one gold medal…for instance, swimmer Lam Quang Nhat (the men’s 1,500m) or marathon runner Pham Thi Binh but their victories are glorious so they deserve big bonuses.
For the athletes of HCM City, in addition to the bonuses of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, they also received bonuses from HCM City.
For example, lifter Thach Kim Tuan, who won a gold medal and broke the SEA Games record, will receive VND75 million ($3,700) from the General Department of Sports and Physical Training and VND75 million from HCM City, plus VND6 million that was given to Tuan in Myanmar, immediately after he won the gold medal.
Other athletes of HCM City such as cyclist Mai Nguyen Hung (one gold and one silver medal), gunwoman Trieu Thi Hoa Hong (two gold and one bronze medal), three-step jumper Tran Thi Hoa Hue (one bronze medal) will also receive bonuses in a similar way.
Also, HCM City’s medalists will enjoy special monthly allowances for talents within one and a half year, until the 28th SEA Games opens in Singapore in mid-2015.
