Recent surveys by Nielsen and Kantar show that health is the first priority for Vietnamese. Demand for good-for-health products is increasing.
According to the Lifestyle Survey 2021-2022 by Kantar, 85% of consumers said they are ready to pay higher prices for good-for-health products. About 73% of people like products with health supplements like vitamins, ginseng, calcium… (increase of 5% compared to 2021).
Among beverages consumed daily, tea has the most market share in both urban and rural areas because of product diversity.
Popular brands like Dr Thanh Herbal tea are known for its purifying function to eliminate worries about inner heat amid humid summer days or after full-on BBQ parties filled with spicy, deep-fried food with friends or during vacation travels.
As a digital native generation, Gen Z has its own way of enjoying hot and spicy food cravings to the fullest with friends but still can stay fresh every day with help from herbal teas to purify the body.
“After each party with friends filled with hot, spicy food and alcoholic drinks, I always choose herbal tea products like Dr. Thanh Herbal tea to keep my natural, refreshed look and avoid looking wiped out from the scorching inner heat and discomfort after social shenanigans," Lam Anh, a Gen Z in Da Nang said.
Thanh Truc, an iGen in Thu Duc (HCMC) said: “The April 30 holiday was a chance to start travel for the exciting upcoming summer. Summer without vitamin ‘sea - C’ and BBQ parties” is a disservice toward nature; not indulging in hot, spicy specialty local dishes is a disservice toward cuisine appreciation. Herbal tea products can take care of inner heat, so there is no worry to enjoy hot, spicy cuisine."
With many young people, the familiar saying that “herbal tea can take care of inner heat” is at the tip of the tongue every summer because it is a time for Gen Z to recuperate, to gather for rave parties without deadline pressure from work or school.
“Herbal tea is my indispensable companion for my friends and I who hold a passion for all kinds of hot, spicy food, BBQ parties filled with delicious grilled food by the beach. After each party, I choose herbal tea to help me purify my body to keep fresh every day," Thu Ha, a freelance MC in HCM City, said.
Youths’ beverage consumption trend has been changing over the past few years with a higher priority on health, according to Kantar's report.
With Gen Z nowadays, drinks not only quench thirst but also need to be good-for-health, and purify the body. Young people are viewing their health as more like a lifestyle rather than a passing short-term trend.
