Situated in HCMC’s outlying district of Hoc Mon, Nga Ba Bau corn market is known as the largest corn wholesale market in HCMC where many people from different parts of the country converge to buy and sell corn from early morning until midnight.

Those who have a chance to pass by Trinh Thi Mieng Street in Hoc Mon District might be captivated to see dozens of trucks transporting corn from provinces such as Dong Thap, Tien Giang, Vinh Long and Tay Ninh to the market every day.

Established in 2002, the market is home to around 20 trading households who previously used to do their business at Cau Muoi Market, a hub of fruit wholesaling in Saigon. When the market was shut down, they moved to Hoc Mon District and started corn trading there.

According to some corn business owners at the market, the corn selling price ranges from VND5,000 to VND7,000 a kilo, capturing the attention of many retailers and street vendors.

Once arriving at the corn market, people might be impressed by the bustling scene of trading activities between sellers and buyers and the busy pace of market life.
