VietNamNet Bridge – The Magic Flute, a two-act opera by Mozart with a German libretto by Emanuel Schikaneder, will be replayed at the HCMC Opera House at 8 p.m. on November 8 and 9 after its premiere last year.
The performance, which is arranged by the HCMC Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO) in cooperation with Transposition Program in Norway, will take place under the baton of Norwegian conductor Magnus Loddgard.
The opera will be performed by tenor Magnus Staveland (in the role of Tamino), soprano Cho Hae Ryong (Pamina), baritonist Halvor F. Melien (Papageno), Dao To Loan (the Queen of the Night), bass Derek Anthony (Sarastro) and tenor Tran Duy Linh (Monostatos).
The opera is about the love story of Prince Tamino and the beautiful Tamina. They have to go through many difficulties before finding true love.
The work premiered at Schikaneder’s theater, the Freihaus-Theater auf der Wieden in Vienna in 1791.
Pianist and veteran conductor Loddgard finished his undergraduate study in piano and conducting in 2003 with professor Ole Kristian Ruud as well as postgraduate study in Orchestral Conducting at Norwegian Academy of Music in 2005. He is now the principal conductor of ensemble neoN (new ensemble of Norway).
Tickets of the show are on sale at HBSO Box Office at 7 Lam Son Square in HCMC’s District 1, at VND650,000, VND550,000 and VND400,000 per guest and VND150,000 per student.
