VietNamNet Bridge – A 59-year-old man in Lam Dong Province is called “the magnet man” because his body can attract metal and glass. He can also touch a 220V power line without being shocked.

Huynh Van Khai, a resident in the village of Phu Tien 2, Phu Son Commune, Lam Ha District, Lam Dong Province, said that in 2007 he suffered from a serious illness, accompanied by high fever. He did not take any medicine but he unexpectedly recovered after a few days.

"At that time my body was burning and I needed to drink water immediately. I left the bed to find a glass of water. Oddly, when I put the glass down, it just stuck to my hand," Khai recalled the first time he discovered his strange ability.

Khai’s family members told him to try to hold other things such as a telephone and a knife and these items also stuck to his hands. He then tested the ability by putting other household appliances like a painting frame, a TV set and bowls on his body. They all stuck to him.

Khai was very surprised about the new ability. He then rubbed his two hands together and felt a current of power flowing through the body; the two hands were tightly stuck together.

Khai is now well-known in his hometown, and is called "the magnet man".

In March 2008, while connecting a cut electric wire at home, Khai accidentally touched the wire with his bare hands and he did not get shocked. Since then, he has connected cut power lines with his bare hands. He has a new nickname - "the power man".

Khai said his ability has been getting stronger. He touched a 220V power wire in front of reporters and nothing happened to him. He also proved his “magnet ability” with knives, glasses and even a TV set.

Khai said his ability has not been researched by any scientist or professional agency.

"I worry that if I suddenly lose this ability, will my health be affected or not? If the electric current is inside my body for a long time, I wonder if it will harm my health and my family members," Khai said.
