The local authorities have assigned the HCM City Youth Union as the investor of the project to renovate the Children's House at No.169 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Road, District 3.

Accordingly, the statue "Uncle Ho with children” will be removed to the Children’s House instead of the Children’s Palace in the Thu Thiem New Urban Area in District 2 as previously expected because the time of completion of the Children’s Palace is yet to be determined.

In November 2012, HCM City People's Committee approved the project of building a new monument of President Ho Chi Minh. The monument will be placed in the park in front of the city People's Committee headquarters on Nguyen Hue Street, District 1. The monument will be 6.3 m tall and made of bronze.

The HCM City People's Committee has launched a monument design competition. Accordingly, the competitors must be professional sculptors who graduated from sculpture faculty. Each author or group of authors can send up to two designs with the height of 0.6m, made of plaster or composite to the organizing board until August 15.

The author of the selected design will receive a bonus of VND51 million ($2,500).
