A commune vice chair was accused of beating a local resident, who filmed the drunken official sleeping at the office during working hours. His inferiors tried to awake him but he could not wake up. Being filmed, the official insulted and threatened to kill the cameraman. He did not admit his wrong behavior but argued: "I drank outside the commune People’s Committee office."

Most recently, in April 2013, the chair of a commune in Dong Nai province got drunk and beat a war invalid right at the commune office.

The vice chair of An Son ward in Tam Ky city, Quang Ngai province was suspended from work because while drunk, he mobilized forces to demolish assets of a business, reasoning that this firm discharging sand and soil to the environment during the construction.

The deputy director of HCM City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism was punished for drinking causing serious consequences.

This official drove a Toyota car and caused an accident on Ly Tu Trong Road, HCM City on March 30, 2013. The accident damaged several cars and motorcycles and injured three people. The cause of the accident also came from alcohol.

In March 2012, a senior official of the Hanoi Customs Office caused an accident in front of the Embassy of the United States in Hanoi. After the clash with a car with a diplomatic number plate, this official was aggressive, swore and "showed off" his position to the police. In his statement, the official admitted that he drank some wine at a party of his office that day.

Also in March 2012, in Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai province, another customs officer also drank and caused an accident. His car hit a bus.

In May 2012, the car of a drunken school principal in Bac Giang City hit the motorbike drove by a woman and the vehicle of two policemen.

Not only causing serious accidents, many officials had very bad behaviors in the eyes of the people.

Earlier January 2013, Ben Tre Provincial Police confirmed that a senior official of the provincial People’s Procuracy scuffled with employees of a filling station in Ben Tre City.

Accordingly, in the evening of December 28, 2012, the official - under the influence of alcohol – drove his motorcycle into a filling station to fill his vehicle. After the filling, he did not pay but drove away. The filling station’s employees stopped him and were insulted by this official. They had to call the police.

In November 2011, a staff working in a prison in Khanh Hoa province stabbed and seriously wounded a resident in Vinh Hai ward, Nha Trang city. The cause of the incident was also derived from drinking.
