One of the leading Folkloric ensembles in Russia, Kuban Cossack Chorus will travel to Hanoi for a performance in the Vietnam National Academy of Music on May 6.
The concert aims to mark the 71st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and the 20th anniversary of the Russia-ASEANDialogue Partnership.
The Chorus, founded in 1811, performed songs, dances and folklore showing the richness of Russian culture, tradition and history.
Over the next hundred years, the choir regularly gave public concerts throughout the country. These concerts would include classical works as well as folk songs in addition to sacred works.
The State Academic Kuban Cossack Chorus has marked its historic 200 year anniversary with a concert in 2011.
In October 1988, by order of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, the choir was awarded the Order of Friendship of Peoples, and in 1990 became a laureate of the Taras Shevchenko State Ukrainian Prize in Ukraine.
Its highest award was received in 1993 when the choir was awarded the title of "Academic".
The choir also got many titles of the Government of Russia, includingthe order of St. Prince Dimitry Donskoy.
The Kuban Cossack Choir of 157 singers joined as ambassadors for the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, and it was confirmed that the group will performed during the Cultural Olympiad for the Games.
