Hoai An, the head of the team for marketing mobile products of Samsung Vietnam (Savina), said that Galaxy Note model targets businessmen and high income earners.
“Galaxy Note is not a kind of smart phone or tablet PC, it is just between the two groups of products,” Nguyen Van Dao, Deputy General Director of Savina, explained.
Equipped with high grade features, such as the high processing speed (duo core CPU 1.4GHz), having 5.3 inch screen and 16 GB inside mass storage, Note is priced at 18.5 million dong. Also according to Hoai An, Note will appear in many activities designed for the business circle.
The presence of the Chair and General Director of Vertu at the ceremony to introduce Vertu Constellation, the first product of the touch phone series of the manufacturer, made people understand that this was really an important event.
The representative of FPT, the exclusive distributor of these products in Vietnam, declined to reveal the turnover and the number of Vertu mobile phones sold in 2010. He also said about the new product, that with the price of between 150 million dong and 500 million dong, Vertu Constellation is reserved for the super-high class businessmen.
Besides the two special products, the high-grade market segment has also welcomed a lot of new faces. HTC, a well known brand in the smart phone market, has renewed itself with Sensation XE which is equipped with specialized software and the headset of Beats Audio.
With the retail price of 14.9 million dong, Vi Quoc Hoan, Product Director of HTC Vietnam, said that the product targets the young people who have good financial conditions.
There are also many other choices for the market segment. Nokia, for example, has launched Nokia N9 priced between 13.2 million dong (16 GB memory) and 14.7 million dong (64 GB in capacity), Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc SLT 18i priced at 13.5 million dong.
Products with ripe technologies appear on low cost product market segment
The noteworthy thing of the mobile market now is that the technologies familiar to high-grade products have been used for low cost products.
Ngo Nguyen Kha, Deputy Director of MobiStar, has revealed that T series would appear in some more days, including T700, T800 and T900 which integrate new features: large screen, touch function, integrated with games and capable to watch 3D film.
Kha said that the new models would satisfy low income earners, because with such low prices, they will not be able to find the mobile phones with so many good features elsewhere. Regarding the retail prices, Kha said the T series are priced at between 1 and 1.4 million dong.
With just 1.8-2.5 million dong, low income earners now can have the chances to possess the mobile phones with many new technological features, such as Nokia 300 (2.5 million dong), Sony Ericsson Yendo (2.3 million dong), LG S365 (1.8 million dong) and ZTE V831 (2.5 million dong).
In related news, on November 16, Vietnam Comm/Vietnam Intertet&IT/Vietnam Electronics 2011 was opened at the Vietnam Exhibition and Trade Fair Center in Hanoi.
According to VnMedia, the surprise of the trade fair is that manufacturers focus on introducing low cost mobile phone products. Most of the products displayed at the trade fair have the retail prices between 500,000 dong and 4 million dong.
