The shrouding ceremony for Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh

At 8am on January 23, the shrouding ceremony for Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh took place solemnly and quietly, according to Buddhist rituals, at Tu Hieu Pagoda in the ancient city of Hue.



Hundreds of monks and nuns at Tu Hieu pagoda and pagodas in Thua Thien Hue province and neighboring localities attended the ceremony.


At 8:30 a.m., the body of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh was moved out of the room where he had passed away.


The body of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh was shrouded at Tu Hieu Pagoda in Hue City.


The ceremony took place in a dignified and silent atmosphere.


The funeral is being held over seven days.

Hundreds of Buddhists from Hue and other provinces stood around the campus of Tu Hieu pagoda to watch the shroulding ceremony of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh.
