VietNamNet Bridge - Existed for many generations, through rain and sunshine, a dozen of village gateways are well preserved in Thuy Khue Street, Tay Ho district, Hanoi.

Thuy Khue Street has nearly a dozen of village gateways that have existed for generations
because this place used to be the quiet village that surrounded the Thang Long Citadel.
At the alleys 378 and 376, there are two entrances to the village of Ho.
The two gateways are located less than 20 meters from each other. They are the major
and the subsidiary gateways to the village.

The gateway of Ho Village still maintains stairs, only for pedestrians.

In the past, the main gateway of the village was just opened during festivals and when
the village welcomed mandarins. The villagers only used the subsidiary gateway.
Now, both village entrances open year round.

The alley 444 is the gateway of the Dong Village.

Each village gate has its own form and appearance. Many villages
have parallel sentences on the both sides.

Subsidiary gateways are usually tiny, with a width of less than 2 meters,
just enough for two motors to avoid each other.

Gateways have unique names, such as “Green”…

or “Hau” in the village of An Tho. This gateway was restored in 1998.

An ancient village gateway.

The gateway of Yen Thai Village with four golden words "My Tuc Kha Phong,”
