VietNamNet Bridge – A lot of candidates with master degrees have got disillusioned, as they cannot get the jobs deserving their higher education. Many of them have to put the degrees on the shelves, taking the jobs of factory workers, café manager to earn their living.
Dang Thanh from the Da Nang Education and Training Department confirmed that more and more candidates who apply for the schools in Da Nang have master degrees or doctorate.
Nguyen Huu C, 27, a master in ecology, has been trying to look for a job in Da Nang City over the last two years.
“I sent my CVs to tens of employers. But I failed to get a job,” he complained
Since he cannot get a stable job, he has been taking every possible work to earn his living. He works as the manager of a café and sometimes goes working as a private tutor, which brings him VND2 million a month.
“There are numerous jobless masters nowadays,” C said. “Sometimes I did not show the master degree to the employers. If I had known that it would be so difficult to apply for a job, I would not have followed the postgraduate training course.”
Vu Thi T, 28, got the master degree in literature three years ago, but she is now a housewife, who takes care for the housework and the child.
“I wish I can get a job as a teacher in Da Nang. However, the Da Nang Education and Training Department only accepts the candidates who finish state owned universities. Meanwhile, I finished a people founded school and I have the master degree of the Hue City University of Education,” T explained.
T once applied for a teaching job at a private school, but she was refused just because the school feared she would leave school for a better job one day.
In August 2013, T applied for a job as a primary school teacher, but her CV was not shortlisted.
“Da Nang is seriously lacking primary school teachers. However, I know a lot of candidates with master degrees were not shortlisted. The schools only accepted the candidates with university degrees,” she complained.
Nguyen Thi S, 28, got the master degree granted by the Phu Xuan people founded school three years ago. However, the degree granted by a people founded school could not help her get a stable job. S has been taking seasonal jobs to earn her living.
C and S, like many other masters, said they cannot understand why the local state agencies prefer university graduates to the candidates with master degrees.
Nguyen C from Ha Tinh province, now works as a security guard for a hotel in Hue City, said that he has a master degree in history, but he still cannot find a job on this training major.
The young man applied for jobs in Ninh Binh in the north, Hue and Da Nang City in the central region, Binh Duong province in the south, but he was refused.
C said that he once applied for a job as a history lecturer for a college in Da Lat, and he was so surprised that the school recruited a university graduate instead of him, a master.
