The man who kicks off the private helicopter movement

President of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group Doan Nguyen Duc was the first businessman who made public about his purchase of a helicopter. In 2008, Duc spent $5.1 million to buy a Beechcraft King Air 350.

At that moment, Duc was listed among the Vietnamese most influential businessmen with the hugest assets. He was then also topped the list of the Vietnamese 100 stock millionaires.

When asked why he spent so much money to buy a helicopter, Duc said he needed it for his business. “I bought it for my business, not just to satisfy my habit. I don’t have so much money to buy an aircraft just to go sightseeing on it,” he said.

The second man who owns private aircraft

In 2010, the second private helicopter officially appeared in Vietnam. It was a helicopter of Tran Dinh Long, President of Hoa Phat Group who bought it for VND17.4 billion.

The time when Long bought the helicopter also marked an important milestone in his life: his name was listed among the five richest Vietnamese stock millionaires.

Though the official buyer was Hoa Phat group, Long was the person who paid money for the helicopter, from the pilot hiring, maintenance fee.

In late 2011, the Hoa Phat Group’s President bought a 12 seat aircraft to replace the six seat one.

Sources said that his first aircraft was transferred to a company in Hong Kong.

“Minh plastic” and the super cars

When the Bugatti Veyron, the car dreamed by many billionaires in the world, which was thought to belong to Minh plastic, rolled onto the streets, it stirred up the public. Minh plastic has been well known as a rich man who is willing to spend money on his collections. However, no one could imagine that he would spend nearly $2 million one day just to buy a car.

Minh is believed to prevail over the others, such as “Cuong dollar” or “Cuong luxury” in terms of the car collections. Minh plastic is one of the very few businessmen in the world who have the expensive car.

Minh plastic not only is the owner of the super car, but of tens of other expensive cars. He is the heir of the Long Thanh Plastics Company.

Nguyen Duc Kien and the Phantom dragon

The car is worth VND40 billion, belonging to Nguyen Duc Kien, who was one of the biggest tycoons in the financial community

In 2012, before he was arrested for the financial scandals, he appeared on the Hang Day stadium in Hanoi with Rolls Royce Phantom, the Year of Dragon 2012 version.

There are only 33 Phantom dragons in the world, while Kien’s is one of the four imported to Vietnam. Each car is worth $1.2 million, including taxes and fees.
