VietNamNet Bridge – Young Vietnamese tennis player Nguyen Hoang Thien lost to Kang Ku-keon of South Korea 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 in the quarter-finals of the New Zealand 18 &Under Summer Championships in Auckland yesterday, Feb 2.

In the third round on Wednesday, 17-year-old Thien came from behind to beat Australian world junior No 538, Robert Allan, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the men's singles event.

Thien also defeated Hong Kong's Li Ming Gang and Japan's Kenta Miyoshi earlier in the tournament.

* Sai Gon Heat lose to Patriots

Viet Nam's first professional basketball club Sai Gon Heat were defeated 62-76 by the Philippine Patriots in their fourth game at the AirAsia ASEAN Basketball League in the Philippines on Wednesday.

The team's Julius Hodge continued his amazing run as the game's top scorer with 26 points and 10 rebounds. His teammate Jonathan Jones also gave a strong performance with 21 points and 14 rebounds.
