VietNamNet Bridge – Owing to legal problems, thousands of motorbikes of traffic rule violators are lying outdoors. Their parts are rusting and becoming rotten. These assets, which are worth millions of USD, are becoming scraps.

Located deep in a small alley near the Chuong Duong Bridge, Hanoi, the ground for seized vehicles of traffic violators is around 3ha. Thousands of motorbikes have been there for several years. Many of them have become scrap iron, which are covered by grass and trees.

There is a roofed area, where thousands of motorbikes were seized recently, including expensive vehicles like PS, SH, Spacy, Liberty, etc. These motorbikes are priced several thousands of USD each.

According to an employee, there are more than 2,000 motorbikes kept here. Many of them have been here for 6-7 years. The owners of these vehicles do not take them back because they do not have registration documents, or because the fees for parking that they have to pay is higher than the value of their vehicles.

This is only one of dozens of grounds for seized vehicles in Hanoi.

The Ministry of Public Security has asked the National Assembly to amend the law to facilitate liquidation of disowned motorbikes.

At present, it takes six months to deal with a disowned motorbike.
