VietNamNet Bridge – On the evening of May 11, thousands of people attended the opening ceremony of the Week of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Red River Delta and the 2nd Red Flamboyant Festival in the northern port city of Hai Phong.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the statement at the opening ceremony of the event, which attracted many foreign art troupes.

Before the opening ceremony, a carnival show was held with the participation of nearly 2,000 artists from 35 countries and territories, 295 diplomatic corps and 8 foreign art troupes.

During the week - a key activity of the National Tourism Year of Red River Delta – Hai Phong - there will be more than 30 cultural, sports and tourism events, featuring the distinctive identity of the Red River Civilization.

From 6pm, the roads leading to the center of Hai Phong city, where the carnival was held, were stuck.

Shortly after the street festival was the opening ceremony of the Week of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Red River Delta with the theme "Red River Civilization".

The opening night closed by a 10-minute firework show.
