VietNamNet Bridge - The cause of death of the three gold miners in Quang Nam province is believed to be suffocation due to lack of oxygen. Every day, the locals still risk their lives to seek gold in gold pits left from the French colonial period.
On the evening of May 5, the bodies of three gold miners who died in a gold pit in Tam Lanh commune, Phu Ninh district, Quang Nam province, were brought home for funerals.
At noon of the same day, villagers of Bong Mieu village in Tam Lanh commune discovered the three bodies during decomposition in a gold pit. The police said that these are illegal gold miners from Bac Tra My district.
This group consisted of four people. The fourth, Mr. Ho Van Loi, 21, survived because he was only a cook.
This gold pit was left from the French colonial period. Every day, the locals still risk their lives to seek gold in such pits.
From the beginning of the year, at least seven illegal gold miners were reported dead in gold pit collapses.
