VietNamNet Bridge – A car carrying more than 40 Buddhists plunged into a ravine in Nghe An Province on August 23, killing three and injuring tens of passengers.

A convoy of 15 cars carrying Buddhist monks and nuns left Hanoi early in the morning for a requiem in the central province of Quang Tri.
The driver of a car lost control when it was running through Truong Vien Hill on National Highway 48 between Quynh Luu and Dien Chau districts.
Tens of Buddhists tried to break glass windows to escape the car in the dark. Two died at the scene and one died on the way to a local hospital.
Many of the 40 passengers aboard the car suffered minor to serious injuries, and they were admitted to hospital 115 in Nghe An for treatment.
The car was seriously damaged and passenger luggage and glass pieces were scattering everywhere.
Survivors said it was raining very hard when the accident happened.
Police and rescue forces retrieved the car and investigated the cause of the accident.
