Three people of a 10-member local tourist group lost their lives in a flash flood at a popular waterfall in the central Ninh Thuan Province yesterday.

The people were bathing in the Sakai waterfall in Lam Hoa Commune in Ninh Son District, when the flash flood swept over the waterfall.

Phan Ke Vu, chairman of the Lam Son Commune's People's Committee, said the accident occurred at about 5.30pm yesterday.

Local rescue teams found the bodies of the three people.

Local people said flash floods often occurred at the Sakai waterfall. Despite warnings by local authorities, several adventurous tourists often disregard the danger here.
