The VFF Cup, which will be held in Ho Chi Minh City on October 24-28, is seen as the most important test of the Vietnam national football squad ahead of the Southeast Asian Football Cup 2012 (AFF Cup).

VFF Secretary General Ngo Le Bang said it was difficult to find guest teams for the VFF Cup this year. However, the difficulty was resolved when the Lao team accepted the invitation. This is the first time that Laos will join the annual VFF Cup.

The names of guest teams have been fixed but VFF has not found a sponsor yet. In the absence of sponsors, VFF will have to cover the entire expenditures for the tournament, including bonus.

The national team of Turkmenistan and the U23 squad of South Korea are preparing for the VFF Cup. Laos will go to Ho Chi Minh City after the AFF Cup 2012 qualifying round.

The Vietnamese team, after the physical training course in Nha Trang, will move to Hanoi on October 12 to prepare for the friendly match against Indonesia at the My Dinh national stadium on October 16.

After this game, the team will go to Ho Chi Minh City for the VFF Cup 2012, from October 24 to 28.
