Authorities from the Quang Ngai Provincial Border Gate confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that the three packages weighing three kilos found by local man Vo Van Teo contained cocaine.

Teo, 46, found the packs which were carefully wrapped in a black bag while walking along the beach on January 4. He checked the packs and found white powder and he decided to bring them to the local border gate station.

Local authorities are co-operating with concerned agencies to find the origins of the drugs.

In late 2022, 58 kilos of methamphetamine were also found drifting onto beaches in central provinces from Quang Tri to Binh Thuan.

According to the Ministry of Public Security, these drugs may belong to illegal trading rings that tried to get rid of them to avoid police investigation.
