VietNamNet Bridge – Three models from HCM City - Huynh Thuy Anh, Cao Thuy Linh and Tuong Vy – have been suspended from participating in artistic performances and activities throughout the country for “illegally” participating in overseas beauty contests.

The ban will be removed until the three models fully comply with requirements for handling violations of  competent agencies. They also must commit to not re-violate the provisions of the law on art performances, fashion shows, beauty contests and modeling.

Huynh Thuy Anh is a final-year student at Ton Duc Thang University in Ho Chi Minh City. She participated in a beauty contest in the United States in August and won the Miss Community title.

Cao Thuy Linh is attending the three-week Miss Grand International pageant in Thailand. She left Vietnam on September 15. Linh has entered top 20 contestants with the most beautiful national costume at this competition.

Tuong Vy took part in the Miss Vietnam World 2014 in the United States in September and won the highest title.

Only Huynh Thuy Anh has worked with officials of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City on the violation. Cao Thuy Linh is still in Thailand and she will work with the authorities immediately after returning home. Meanwhile, Tuong Vy said she will be abroad from October 1-4 and she will meet with inspectors of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism later.

After receiving explanations from the three models, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of HCM City will decide the sanctions.

Under the law, Vietnamese representatives at international beauty contests must be prize winners at local pageants. All three models have never won prizes at any local beauty contest.

Previously, some models like Que Van and Phan Hoang Thu were fined for the same behavior.
