One of the three infections died on February 5 due to an HIV-related illness, reported the provincial CDC.

The two remaining patients were swiftly put into quarantine for treatment, and they are currently in stable condition.

The source of transmissions of the cases remains unknown, according to the provincial CDC.

The local CDC urged those who had come into close contact with the patients to self-quarantine at home or alternatively to go to health facilities for immediate check-ups.

Monkeypox is currently listed as a Group B infectious disease in Vietnam, meaning it is capable of spreading quickly and possibly causing death.

The disease is capable of spreading from person to person via large respiratory droplets and direct contact, including sexual intercourse.

Vietnam currently has no vaccine or cure for monkeypox.
