At 9am on September 20, an explosion occurred at the house of Mrs. Hoang Thi Mai Lan, 28, in Tan Khai commune, burning Lan and her two sons, Ngo Hoang Long - 5 years old and Ngo Hoang Loi - 3 years old.

The three victims were brought to the General Hospital of Binh Duong province and then to the Cho Ray Hospital in HCM City because the burns were very serious. However, the mother and the kids died one day later.

After scene examination, the investigation agency said that many traces left after the explosion showed that the explosion might be caused by someone.

Lieutenant Colonel Le Duc Hien, Chief Police Officer of Tan Khai commune said the 12kg gas cylinder was moved from the kitchen to the room where the explosion occurred. Additionally, petrol in the fuel tank of the victim's motorcycle was drawn out.

According to Hien, in the morning before the incident, Lan and her husband, named Luc, had a quarrel. After a while, Luc went to the field to work and a few hours later the explosion occurred.

At the scene, the police also collected two broken photo frames with the wedding photos of the couple. Many family papers and photos were on the floor.

The investigation agency determined that at the time of the incident, only Lan and the two kids were at home.

Luc said: "Lan loves the kids so much so she could not harm them. This was an unintended accident."

Luc said he and Lan were married 6 years ago. The family was very poor. Luc, 39, worked as a rubber latex collector, while Lan stayed at home to take care of the kids.
