VietNamNet Bridge – Three naval ships on December 15, left Cam Ranh military port in the central province of Khanh Hoa to carry hundreds of tons of goods and New Year gifts to soldiers and people on Spratly Islands.

The three ships will call on 33 islands in a 25-day journey to give locals and soldiers goods and New Year gifts such as banh chung (square glutinous rice cakes), pork, chicken, yellow apricot, etc. from people throughout the country.

The ships also carry soldiers to some islands. New recruit Nguyen Thanh Minh, 19, from Cam Ranh city, Khanh Hoa province, said: “This is the first time I go to Spratly Islands so I’m very nervous and excited. I hope to contribute my little strength to build the country in general and Spratly Islands in particular.”
