Nguyen Le Yen Nhi: Leaving Gia Lai for HCMC to pursue her dream

Nguyen Le Yen Nhi is a former student of Nguyen Trai High School in Gia Lai Province. When she learned that she had scored a perfect 30 in the high school graduation exam, she could hardly believe her eyes.

The first people she called were her parents, who had quietly supported their daughter throughout her journey. Both are secondary school teachers.

During her first two years of high school, Yen Nhi studied at Nguyen Trai High School in Gia Lai, focusing on mathematics and physics. In Grade 12, she made the decision to move to Ho Chi Minh City, live at a boarding school and switch her focus to mathematics, chemistry and biology so she could concentrate on her goal of becoming a doctor.

“It was quite a risky decision, but I wanted to challenge myself and pursue my dream,” Yen Nhi said.

Living away from her family meant she had to become entirely independent in both her studies and daily life. Her school day began at 6 a.m. and ran until 11:30 a.m., followed by afternoon classes from 1 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. In the evenings, she studied on her own until around 9 or 10 p.m.

Yen Nhi, however, believes success does not come from simply studying more, but from studying effectively. She always made mastering the material in her textbooks the priority before moving on to practice tests, which helped her become familiar with different question types and sharpen her exam skills.

With her perfect score of 30 in the B00 combination, Yen Nhi became a first-year medical student at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City in 2026.

Huynh Diem My: From a farming family to a perfect score

Huynh Diem My is a former student of Class 12A1 at Nguyen Cong Tru No. 1 High School in Krong Pac Commune, Dak Lak Province.

Since Grade 10, Diem My had dreamed of becoming a doctor and focused her efforts on mathematics, chemistry and biology. As the graduation exam drew closer, she devoted increasing amounts of time to reviewing the three B00 subjects.

Beyond studying from textbooks, My actively sought help from teachers and friends to strengthen both her knowledge and test-taking skills.

Speaking about his student, Mai Quoc Tuan, principal of Nguyen Cong Tru No. 1 High School, said My had been an outstanding student throughout her three years of high school. She also won second prize in the provincial biology competition for outstanding students in the 2025-2026 academic year.

Her achievements were not confined to academics. She was also an active participant in school activities and movements, was sociable and was well liked by both her classmates and teachers.

Tuan added that both of My’s parents are farmers and that she had long cherished the dream of becoming a doctor.

Dinh Ngoc Hai Lam: Mastering theory to tackle the hardest questions

Dinh Ngoc Hai Lam, a former student of Class 12B2 at Le Thanh Tong Primary, Secondary and High School in Ho Chi Minh City, was also among the B00 top scorers who achieved a perfect 30 in the 2026 high school graduation exam.

Hai Lam’s approach was to thoroughly master the theory in her textbooks before moving on to more advanced types of problems. She believes that a strong foundation is the key to successfully tackling difficult questions.

Hai Lam is now studying medicine at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City, with the goal of becoming a doctor.
