VietNamNet Bridge – Beating an iron bar on the head, using a machine to drill in the stomach and throat, making a 6mm iron bar bend with the throat, pulling a cyclo with the eyes ... are the hard-to-believe performances of Quang Hien.

The man has received two Vietnam records from Vietking (Vietnam Records Organization).

The first record is using his head to break 30 bricks in 21 seconds in October 2007 and using his head to push a 5-ton car for a distance of 80 meters in 2011.

The Vietnam National Television (VTV) also recognized Hien’s record of using the head to break 100 bricks in 1.22 minutes.

However, Hien owns other strange abilities.

A video shot on February 27, 2015 showed a man using a big stick to beat Hien’s elbows, legs, and ribs and using an iron bar to beat Hien’s head and both the stick and the iron bar were broken.

Hien used to perform other thrilling abilities: thrusting a 6mm-thick iron bar into his throat (and the iron bar then bent), carrying two buckets of water by his eyes, using a drilling machine to drill into his throat, stomach, and head, and pushing a car by a spear pressed against his pharynx.

Hien said that he was preparing for a new show: jumping from the height of 4m onto 20 bulbs.

To achieve these records, Hien has practiced very hard for many years.

Born in a poor village in the southern province of Long An, Hien loved lion dance when he was a boy. One day, he watched a performance of kung-fu. That night he could not sleep, wondering why the artists could do such acts.

Since then, Hien was determined to study kung-fu through sects such as Vovinam, Shaolin,and others. He also practiced very hard.

During the training, he suffered a lot of pains and injuries so he studied remedies to cure the wounds.

"Once I was hospitalized for a severe head injury. The doctor said I had hematoma in my head and advised me to stop practicing. At that time, I was very sad and thought I should have to retire,” Hien recalled.

“But after five months, I was determined not to give up because the passion to serve the people. I started practicing again and what makes me happy is the love of people when I perform," he said.

Hien is the chief of the Thien Ung Duong Unicorn-Lion-Dragon Troupe (sponsored by Tianeng Singapore). He is also the referee for national unicorn-lion-dragon competitions.

He has been invited to perform in many countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Cambodia.

Hien is about to receive an Asian record.
