On the afternoon of January 11, Nguyen Thi Thu Ngan officially received the sash to represent Vietnam at the 53rd Miss Intercontinental, to be held in Egypt in 2025.

Thu Ngan is the first runner-up of Miss Grand Vietnam 2025 and previously won the title of Western Beauty 2024. The 22-year-old beauty from Can Tho stands 1.72 meters tall with measurements of 85-63-94 cm.

At the ceremony, Thu Ngan appeared in an evening gown named Desert Flame by designer Thuong Gia Ky. Inspired by the fierce and eternal beauty of the Egyptian desert, the gown embodies strength and grace - a fitting metaphor for her upcoming journey.

Alongside the evening gown, her national costume was also unveiled. Designed by Pham Thi Ngoc Trang under mentor Nguyen Viet Hung, the costume - titled Chau Ro’s Prayer for the Harvest - won second prize in the national ethnic costume design contest. The look draws from the cultural life of the Chau Ro ethnic group, using three main colors: black for the motherland, red for fire, and white for light.

In her speech, Thu Ngan expressed deep emotion at being chosen to represent Vietnam’s beauty on the international stage. She pledged to do her best to promote the country’s rich culture and warm-hearted people.

Speaking in English during the event, Thu Ngan showed composure and clarity, delivering a message that resonated with sincerity. Her efforts to improve her language skills and communicate effectively with the global audience did not go unnoticed.

Pham Kim Dung, National Director of Miss Intercontinental Vietnam, praised Thu Ngan as a quiet but hardworking woman who prepares her own healthy meals and is deeply committed to self-discipline. She highlighted Thu Ngan’s youthful charm and adaptability to trends - essential traits for any international pageant contestant.

Lê Hoàng Phương, Executive Director of Miss Grand Vietnam 2025, recalled being impressed with Thu Ngan from the preliminary rounds. “Today, seeing Thu Ngan as Miss Intercontinental Vietnam 2025, I see a young woman who has matured - confident, poised, and carrying the essence of Vietnamese identity,” she shared.

Vietnam has competed in Miss Intercontinental since 2003 and has achieved remarkable results in recent years. Most notably, Le Nguyen Bao Ngoc won the crown in 2022. She was followed by Le Nguyen Ngoc Hang, who finished as second runner-up in 2023, and Bui Khanh Linh, who placed third runner-up in 2024.

Thu Ngan will compete in Egypt from January 14, with the final night set for January 29.
