VietNamNet Bridge - Vietnamese badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh, the world’s number 7, has entered the quarter-final round at the Yonex Australian Grand Prix Gold after defeating Li Yu from China at the third round on April 7 in Melbourne.

To join the 16-player round, the second seed and defending champion romped past Yogendran Khrishnan of Malaysia and Lin Yu Jui (214th) of Chinese Taipei at the same result 2-0.
Minh’s latest rival on April 7 is Li Yu from China, who ranks 134th. Minh was the winner, with 2-1 score (16-21, 21-16, 21-10).
Tien Minh’s next rival in the quarter finals, April 8, is Sho Sasaki from Japan, who is the 6th seed and ranks 26th in the world.
The first seed of Thailand Boonsak Ponsana, who is a potential rival of Minh for the title, also won Yu Hsien Lin of Taipei 2-1 in the first round and Yuhan Tan of Belgium 2-0 at his following game.
All top ten seeds at the tournament, as Yun Hu (3), Kazushi Yamada (5), Sho Sasaki (6), Brice Leverdez (7), Choong Hann Wong (8), and Tommy Sugiarto (9), made their ways into the third round.
The event is organized from April 5-10 with 376 players partaking in five categories for men and women.
