VietNamNet Bridge - The third seed--Nguyen Tien Minh of Vietnam, lost in the final game of the Grand Prix Gold US Open in Los Angeles on July 17, to secure the second place.


Minh, the world’s number 9, was beaten by Japan’s Sho Sasaki 17-21 and 18-21.

Sho Sasaki, ranking 15th in the world and the seventh seed, has made great progress recently. He beat Tien Minh at the Australia Open this year.

The second place is the best record by Tien Minh at international tournaments so far this year. He received $4,560 of bonus and 5,950 bonus points from the International Badminton Federation.

The 6-day Grand Prix Gold US Open is an event in the International Badminton Federation’s Grand Prix Gold system. This is the three-star tournament, which is only behind the tournaments in the Super Series system, with a total prize purse of US$120,000. The champion receives $9,000 and 7,000 bonus points on the International Badminton Federation’s ranking list.
