VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnam’s top badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh has received $3,750 for the Yonex Sunrise Vietnam Open championship, plus $2,500 of bonus from some organizations.


Watching Tien Minh’s outstanding performance at the Yonex Sunrise Vietnam Open tournament, General Director of the Robot Company, who is also Chairman of the HCM City Badminton Federation, Nguyen Phuong Nam, decided to present $2,000 of bonus to Minh. Thai Le Co., Ltd also presented Minh VND10 million ($500).

After the Yonex Sunrise Vietnam Open, Tien Minh will compete at the Taiwan Open 2011 from September 6 to 11. The total bonus for this tournament is $200,000. Tien Minh is also the number-one seed of the tournament. Last year, he was also the top seed but he entered the semi-final only.

The second seed at the Taiwan Open 2011 is the world’s 12th player, South Korea’s Park Sung Hwan.

The champion will receive $15,000 and 7,000 bonus points of the World Badminton Federation.

Vietnam’s top badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh has recently climbed two steps to secure 7th place in the latest World Badminton Federation (WBF) ratings. Minh earned his seventh place after gaining an additional 5,950 points and coming in second at the 2011 US Open Badminton Championships.

Below Minh in the world top ten are Peng Yu of China, Park Sung Hwan from the Republic of Korea and Thailand's Boonsak Ponsana. The top place in the world rankings is held by Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia, followed by Lin Dan of China and Peter Hoeg Gade of Denmark.
